Here is a smoothie with a different taste. Mixing Coconut, Ginger, and Apples renders a really tropical taste that is healthy too.
In your smoothie blender mix:
Ginger
As a medicine, Ginger has been a staple of Chinese medicine since well before the discovery of America. Both the roots and the rhizomes of the plant are used to treat cramping, fever, muscle aches, indigestion, nausea, and allergies.
The scientific name for Ginger is “zingiber Offcinale”. It originated in China and is now grown in many other tropical climates around the world.
As a spice, Ginger is both very fragrant and hot. It is widely used in baking (breads, ginger snaps), drinks (ginger ale, ginger tea), and as a spice for other dishes.
Humans have depended on the Coconut for food and drink for generations. To this day, on many islands, the coconut remains a dietary staple. It is estimated that as much as a third of the planet’s population depend on the coconut to one degree or another as a food and in their economies.
Coconut is rich in dietary fiber, minerals, and vitamins. They are very low in Cholesterol and high in vitamin C. On the down side, coconut is high in sodium and sugars.
In this smoothie recipe, both Ginger and Coconut mix together very well and, along with the other ingredients, provide a really tasty and nutritious treat!
